USPS Postal Rate Increase Effective July 2022

Any business owner knows that postage costs can quickly add up and an unexpected increase in postage costs can impact profitability. USPS recently announced an increase in postal rates effective July 10, 2022.
USPS Postal Rate Increase

This USPS postal rate increase is being attributed to rising inflation and operation costs. Here are more details to know about this rate increase.

Mailing Letters, Postcards and Flat/Large Envelopes

For the everyday person, the most noticeable increase will be in the Forever Stamps. The stamps are increasing from 58 cents to 60 cents. This increase is in addition to the three-cent increase last year. Postcards will also increase from 40 cents to 44 cents.

Rate increases will also affect standard letters (1 oz.). They will increase from 58 cents to 60 cents, the same as Forever Stamps. Metered 1 oz. letters will increase to 57 cents from 53 cents. Each additional ounce will cost 24 cents, up from 20 cents.

Along with the increased rates USPS Priority Mail will now include $100 of insurance for free rather than the previous $50 of insurance.

Marketing Mail

For businesses that utilize USPS for their marketing mail, there may also be increases in those rates. The chart below outlines the proposed prices and percentage of change.
